How can we make a social impact? | AFFECTIVE SUSTAINABILITY

The ninth in a series of conversations on “How can we make a social impact?” with the topic “Affective Sustainability” presented by Dr. Kim Poldner. She will share her reflections, ideas, and experiences based on her career as a social entrepreneur, researcher, and teacher.
The short presentation will be a starting point for a meaningful conversation and explore some of the following issues:
- An aesthetic perspective of sustainability: beyond the cognitive
- How can we affect and be affected to inspire sustainable transformation?
- How can affect support design for sustainability?

Kim Poldner is Professor at The Hague University of Applied Sciences and founder of the research group Circular Business. She obtained her PhD at the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland and was a visiting scholar in Canada, France, and Germany. Kim’s work brings an aesthetic perspective to business and organization as a catalyst for sustainable transformation. In her view beauty and sustainability are intertwined: aesthetics can support people to be receptive to connection, compassion, and love, for each other and their environment. Kim teaches courses on social entrepreneurship, circular economy and sustainable leadership and has published in top journals such as Organization, Journal of Business Venturing, Journal of Cleaner Production and Business & Society.
